David James was junior counsel for the defence in a case which has received significant media attention.

Ian Connell strangled Donald Prentice Patience and then stole his pet dog. Manchester Crown Court heard Connell had strangled Patience after he refused to give him more money for drugs.

Connell, of Bolton, was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 19 years.
