Louise Reevell: Chief Constable’s Commendation

July 10, 2026

Congratulations to Louise Reevell who was awarded a Chief Constable’s Commendation for her prosecution of the case of R v David Hill at Sheffield Crown Court. In February 2026 before HHJ Hampton, Hill was found guilty of raping a woman at knifepoint back in 1985. More than 40 years later he was sentenced to 15 years in prison after modern DNA testing linked him to the crime scene.

Louise was presented with the commendation alongside the CPS lawyer, forensic scientist and retired police witnesses involved in the investigation. It is highly unusual for a barrister to be recognised in this way, so warmest congratulations to Louise.

The case attracted significant national media attention including on the BBC, and the Times (paywall applies) as well as on the CPS website.
