Women’s Faces Project for International Women’s Day
On Monday 9th March 2026, International Women’s Day was celebrated by Leader of the Northern Circuit, Samantha Hillas KC, Rebecca Penfold and members of the crime team as WICL Manchester hosted a ‘Women’s Faces Project’ at Manchester Crown Square. The event was also held at Southwark and Sheffield, linking in to each court centre to hear about the trailblazing women who now appear on the walls of the Court centres to inspire, empower and represent.
The project launched in 2023 at the Old Bailey, Liverpool, Cardiff and Birmingham. On Monday evening, it expanded further across the country to include Manchester. WICL are changing the fact that all over the country women go into Bar Messes and robing rooms and see only men on the walls.
