Senior Clerk / Practice Manager, Liverpool

We are one of the largest barristers’ chambers in the country with sites in four major cities in the North. A common-law set, our barristers’ practice in family, criminal, personal injury, clinical negligence, commercial, regulatory, Court of Protection and employment law.
We are looking for an experienced and effective Senior Clerk or Legal Practice Manager to join our Senior Management Team and take on this critical leadership and business development position at our Liverpool site. Key responsibilities will be: business and practice development for our barrister members, driving growth in our instructing client base in the region, managing the Liverpool staff team, and being an active member of Chambers’ senior management team.
Our ideal candidate will have strong links to the Liverpool legal marketplace, with a good track record of effectively identifying, following up and converting business leads into new instructions. Excellent relationship management skills are essential to ensure clients and barrister members are well looked after and their needs now and, in the future, catered for. A proven ability to engage and motivate a team to deliver a high quality of service, in line with Chambers’ values, is also a must. It will be a distinct advantage to have knowledge and experience of the technicalities of clerking barristers’ practices.
As part of our Senior Management Team, you will benefit from the support of experienced colleagues and our established infrastructure, which includes dedicated Accounts, Marketing and Human Resources functions. You will play an integral role in helping to deliver our aims of providing excellent services to members and clients in a consistent and cohesive manner and encouraging and supporting engagement and community within chambers. You will need to be comfortable working in a matrix management style, to work in harmony with our cross-site, practice group structure.
