Barristers’ Clerk (Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence), Manchester

Fixed term post for one year to cover parental leave

Salary range: £26,750 – £32,000 depending on skills and experience

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 5:30pm (1-hour lunch)

Holidays: 25 per year plus Bank Holidays (rising with length of service)

We have a vacancy for a barristers’ clerk to work in our Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence Team in Manchester. Ideally, you will have some experience of working as a clerk in a barristers’ chambers or in a comparable role in the legal sector.

The role is based in Manchester, but you will support our civil practice barristers across all of our sites in the North, working with colleagues in clerking teams across our five sites to ensure the delivery of a smooth and comprehensive clerking service to all practitioners in the team and their clients.

Your role will involve: dealing with telephone and email queries and bookings, computer recording of briefs and instructions in MLC and Dropbox, chasing papers, checking court and tribunal listings, notifying barristers of their daily workload, billing and producing information reports for insurer clients.

While this vacancy has arisen to cover a period of parental leave, we are a large and busy chambers so there is the potential for ongoing employment at the end of the fixed term, should another vacancy arise or workflow in the team increases.
