Thank you Chris Ronan

The members and staff of St John’s Buildings would like to express their immense gratitude to Chris Ronan, as he departs Chambers after more than 35 years of exceptional service and leadership.
Chris joined Chambers as a clerk in December 1987 and was promoted to Chief Clerk in 1994 and, subsequently, Chief Executive in 2013, following mergers with chambers in Liverpool and Sheffield. During his time in Chambers, St John’s Buildings has grown from 21 barristers based at 28 St John Street, Manchester to a set of more than 250 counsel with premises in Manchester, Chester, Liverpool, Sheffield and Leeds.
Frances Heaton KC, Joint Head of Chambers said: “Chris’s years of commitment to the success and development of SJB as a whole and, significantly, its individual staff and members is readily apparent. Quietly and without requiring any thanks he has helped so many people navigate their careers, overcome problems and has only wanted the best for each of them. He has been a listener, guide and mentor who has never considered any task beneath his role. Chris will be missed but we wish him well as he embarks on the next chapters in his life. Time to hit the road Chris but don’t be a stranger!”
Richard Norton, Joint Head of Chambers, said of Chris “Chris has been synonymous with St John’s Buildings for the last 30 years. He is a primary reason for our success as a Chambers. He has been the backbone of Chambers and will be enormously missed. We are particularly fortunate that Chris has built and supported an exceptional staff and clerking team, ensuring his positive influence will continue to be felt for many years to come. We wish Chris the very best of health and happiness for the future.”
St John’s Buildings has appointed David Anderson as Chris’ successor.
