R v Steven Ling
Richard Thyne KC prosecuted Steven Ling who was sentenced to life imprisonment after beating a man to death for breaking into his car. Ling attacked Mateusz Chojnowski after Ling returned to his car and found Chojnowski inside. He launched a sustained attack which lasted for an hour.
Ling pleaded guilty to manslaughter, but was jailed for life for murder at Sheffield Crown Court. Judge Sir Nicholas Lavender sentenced him to a minimum term of 16 years.
