R v Raymond Evans

July 31, 2015

Oliver King defended a man who was found to be in possession of a prohibited firearm. Raymond Evans, 70, from Flintshire had previously pleaded guilty to owning the rifle. A change in the law meant that he required the permission of the Secretary of State or faced a minimum five-year sentence. Passing a suspended sentence, Judge Niclas Parry said he had been persuaded there were exceptional circumstances not to send Mr Evans to prison. Mr Evans received a £2,000 fine.
