R v P

June 19, 2024

Maria Brannan, working with instructing solicitor Rachel Fletcher of Slater Heelis, successfully defended a Cheshire man charged with attacking his wife with a cast iron trivet.

Mr P was alleged to have struck his wife repeatedly around the head. He was acquitted after the jury sitting at Liverpool Crown Court heard evidence that the allegation against him had been fabricated as part of a bitter marital dispute.

Preparation of the case involved analysis of financial transactions, telephone recordings, photographic evidence and medical records in addition to identification of witnesses to whom false reports had been made by the alleged victim.
