R v Nielsen & Beech (& another)
Gordon Stables represented the defendants Ulrik Nielsen and Alex Beech for their part in a £200,000 conspiracy to pass off horsemeat as beef which was sold to retailers.
Nielsen bought horsemeat and beef from suppliers across Europe and Beech had arranged for shipments to be transferred and handled.
Both Nielsen and Beech pleaded guilty to the same charge of conspiracy to defraud. Nielsen was sentenced to three and a half years and Beech was given an 18 month sentence suspended for 12 months.
