R v Jon Watson & Kathryn Mooney
Gordon Stables prosecuted a baby shaking case at Grimsby Crown Court as leading counsel, together with Laura Marshall.
Jon Watson was convicted of causing grievous bodily harm with intent on his 10-week-old son by shaking him causing permanent and serious disability. The baby was left virtually blind, brain damaged, unable to speak or eat and totally dependent on round-the-clock care.
Watson was sentenced to an Extended Sentence of 15 years with a custodial element of 12 years.
Mooney was convicted of child cruelty for failing to protect her son from Watson. She received a suspended sentence.
