R v Dodds

February 8, 2017

Gordon Stables prosecuted Roger Dodds, 81, who was jailed for 16 years after pleading guilty to four counts of indecent assault.

Dodds was employed by Sheffield City Council between 1953 and 1993. He was the subject of two internal investigations in the 1980s and 1990s after complaints were brought against him but was allowed to continue his employment.

A police investigation in 2008 did not result in any charges. Dodds was eventually charged in 2016 after another complainant came forward in 2014.

The case received significant coverage in the national media including The BBC, ITV, Sky News, The Guardian, The Telegraph and The Sun.
