R v Carlton Donaldson (and Sashon Brown)
Maria Brannan successfully prosecuted a defendant who stabbed and killed a man on a night out in Birmingham.
Carlton Donaldson was jailed for life after being found guilty of stabbing Dan Baird to death outside the Forge Tavern pub in Digbeth on 8 July, 2017. He was convicted on Wednesday of offences of murder, violent disorder, section 18 and attempted section 18.
Donaldson will serve at least 23 years before being considered for parole.
The co-defendant, Sashon Brown, also faced counts of possession of a bladed article and violent disorder, and was sentenced to two and a half years in jail.
Maria was led by James Curtis QC in a seven-week trial at Birmingham Crown Court.
