R v Absolom Sigiyo, Romulad Houphouet & Jacek Brzozwski

Gordon Stables prosecuted Romulad Houphouet and Absolom Sigiyo in a 5-week trial at Sheffield Crown Court that culminated in a sentencing hearing on 5th March 2025. Gordon was leading Nicola Quinney in this case.
The men were found guilty of a number of offences including rape after the court heard how the girls were sexually assaulted several times a week over a period of six months. They were sentenced by Judge Sarah Wright to 20 years and 18-and-a-half years respectively.
A third defendant, Jacek Brzozowski, of Rawmarsh, Rotherham, was bailed and will be sentenced at the same court on 14th April 2025.
The convictions are the latest following the National Crime Agency’s investigation into child sexual exploitation in Rotherham between 1997 and 2013, known as Operation Stovewood.
This case received coverage in The Guardian, the Daily Mail, Sky News, the CPS and various other news outlets.
