Simeon was called to the Bar by Lincoln’s Inn in 1997 having read for the BVC at the Inns of Court School of Law. He practises in all areas of criminal law.
Simeon takes an active interest in promoting the art of advocacy. He acts as a trainer on the Northern Circuit on the advocacy courses provided to Pupils and New Practitioners and on the highly regarded Expert Witness Advocacy Course. Simeon sits on the Northern circuit Advocacy Committee. He has also taught advocacy to law graduates at the Law School of Tanzania in Dar es Salaam.

Simeon is a criminal law defence specialist. He has represented clients, both privately and legal aid funded, in Crown Courts throughout England and Wales in numerous cases involving serious sexual offences; serious violence; public disorder; supply of drugs; fraud and other offences of dishonesty.
Simeon has also regularly undertaken privately funded road traffic work in Magistrates’ Courts across the country.
Simeon has appeared in the Court of Appeal, Criminal Division, on many occasions in respect of appeals against convictions and sentences.
Simeon is accredited by the Bar Council to undertake direct public access work.
R v H (2014) Bradford Crown Court
Secured the acquittal of a former Leeds and England Rugby League star on charges alleging serious sexual offending in a historical context.
R v V (2014) Bradford Crown Court
Secured the acquittal of a stage hypnotist accused of a sexual offence against an audience member.
R v S (2014) Chester Crown Court
Junior counsel representing a lorry driver accused of murdering a fellow road user by running over him in his HGV.
R v B (2014 ongoing) Manchester
Representing a client with serious learning difficulties requiring the assistance of an intermediary in conference and at trial.
R v A (2013-14) Manchester Crown Court
Represented a mother charged with causing life-threatening brain injuries to a two-year-old child. Acquitted on one count; convicted only at re-trial on another. Complex medical issues arose requiring the lengthy cross-examination of experts, conducted without the benefit of defence expert support.
R v PG & Others (2013) Bolton Crown Court
Represented a defendant charged with involvement in a very large-scale drug importation and supply conspiracy. Negotiated an acceptable plea to a single substantive count.
R v A & others (2012) Liverpool Crown Court
Represented one of the Defendants in the ‘Rochdale grooming trial’. Defendant acquitted on some counts, convicted on others. Successfully argued for jurors with potential links to far-right organisations to be excluded from the panel. Successfully argued for the dismissal of one of the conspiracy counts at the conclusion of the Crown’s case.
R v N (2012) Preston Crown Court
Represented a lady dentist charged with causing death by dangerous driving (driver distracted by use of mobile telephone). Negotiated an acceptable plea to causing death by careless driving. Successfully argued for a suspended sentence of imprisonment.
