Operation Lytton
Rebecca Penfold, led by Clare Wade KC of Garden Court Chambers, represented the first defendant in the first cohort of Operation Lytton, Rochdale grooming trial. The trial, which recently concluded, lasted 53 days. The defendant faced 21 counts against two complainants. One complainant, ‘Girl A’ alleged that the abuse started with the first defendant when she was aged 12.
Not guilty verdicts were secured on 16 counts of rape, sexual intercourse with a girl under 13, indecency with a child and buggery. The defendant was convicted of five offences of sexual activity with a child, between the ages of 14-15.
