Inquest into the death of Kit Mangles

March 18, 2019

Laura Nash represented a housemaster at Ampleforth College after a 17-year-old student took his own life.

Christian Mangles, known as ‘Kit’, was found with gunshot wounds inside a car at Blakey Ridge, North Yorkshire, on June 14, 2018.

Kit was a boarder at Ampleforth when he was arrested by the police and ‘indefinitely suspended’ from the school. He had been detained for matters deemed irrelevant to the inquest.

The coroner concluded that the wound was self-inflicted and Kit was aware of the impact of a loaded shotgun. He ruled his death to be suicide.

The case has gained coverage in The Daily Telegraph, Daily MailThe Times, and The Yorkshire Post.
