MBE for Zia Chaudhry
Zia Chaudhry will travel to Buckingham Palace today to receive his MBE from Prince Charles. Zia has been awarded the honour for his attempts to bring different faiths together in Merseyside. In 2007 Zia founded the Spirit of Cordoba, a charity supported by Prince Charles, which aims to promote an understanding and raise awareness of Muslim history, culture and achievements.
Zia used the opportunity of his award to make a statement condemning ISIS, saying he hadn’t “done much” to receive the award, “just tried to be a good Muslim, which, as it turns out, isn’t much different from being a good British citizen.”
The story was covered in the Liverpool Echo.
