Legal 500 Rankings 2016

September 15, 2016

St John’s Buildings is delighted that 43 barristers across seven practice areas have been ranked by the Legal 500 – one of the highest for any set without a London presence.

The Set overview states: “St Johns Buildings ‘consistently proves to be reliable and approachable, with hardworking barristers’. The set is one of the largest on the Northern and North Eastern circuits, with over 150 members across its four offices. Chambers is primarily known for its expertise in family and personal injury matters, but it also houses barristers specialising in criminal, commercial, Chancery and employment law. Notably, Sally Harrison QC was in the Supreme Court recently in a family law case concerning financial remedies, Gohil v Gohil. The clerks provide ‘a positive, smooth service, and work very much as a team’. At the helm is Chris Ronan – ‘an extremely impressive chief executive, who has an eye on the future’.”

In individual practice areas, our criminal team “has an excellent reputation,” we are recognised as “a leading set in the North for family work” and seen as “a leading set in the personal injury arena.”

Some notable comments for individual barristers include Joseph O’Brien who is “Undoubtedly the most outstanding barrister for Court of Protection cases;” Richard Carter who “never lets you down;” Iain Simkin – “A fantastic advocate, a true fighter and great with clients” and Sally Harrison QC – “The leading light in financial cases; she is in a league of her own.”
