Landlord Fined £21,400
Chris Moss prosecuted a landlord who was found to be housing 107 Romanian migrants in extremely dirty and cramped conditions with risk of fire and danger to life.
John Russell Brown and his company Hyperion Investments admitted 12 charges relating to the condition of the property and the danger and risk to health of the occupants in it. He was fined £21,400 and ordered to pay costs of £56,000.
It is thought to be the largest multi-agency operation of this type in the country, involving the police, fire department, British Red Cross and Flintshire Council.
All the migrant workers were either rehomed or returned back to their home countries. There was no criminality on their part.
The case received substantial coverage including the BBC and ITV websites, the Mirror and LeaderLive.
