Daniel Currie has written an article for the Family Law Journal published in their September issue, titled: Is adoption a lifelong status? Adoption orders and the inherent jurisdiction in the Supreme Court.
The article considers the Supreme Court’s judgment regarding revocation of adoption orders in Re X and Y (Children: Adoption Order: Setting Aside) [2026] UKSC 13, [2026] 2 FLR 52. In particular, Daniel discusses the Supreme Court’s approach towards the inherent jurisdiction of the High Court, which signals that the availability of the jurisdiction may be restrained than has been understood hitherto.
