Inquest into the death of Ellis Thompson
Simon Murray represented the family of a talented musician who died following a 10-hour wait at an A&E department.
Ellis Thompson died in May 2022 at Manchester Royal Infirmary (MRI). The 31-year-old had attended the hospital three days earlier and had been diagnosed with a chest infection and incorrectly discharged with antibiotics.
Reaching a narrative conclusion, the coroner said: “The deceased died from natural causes, with his death contributed to by a decision to discharge him without full and proper investigations, which had they been carried out would have led to a diagnosis of pulmonary embolism and appropriate treatment.”
