Inquest finds neglect at Yorkshire Ambulance Service

September 6, 2023

Simon Murray represented the family of Mark Taylor at an inquest held at Sheffield Medico-Legal Centre on 5th September. The inquest concerned an error by the Yorkshire Ambulance Service in wrongly categorising a 999 call as category 2, rather than category 1. This resulted in a long wait for an ambulance, during which time Mr Taylor suffered a cardiac arrest.

The inquest concluded that, had the call being correctly categorised, Mr Taylor would likely have survived. A finding was made that neglect had contributed to Mr Taylor’s death.

The inquest was covered on the BBC News and the Sheffield Star.
