Inquest into Death of Man at HMP Forest Bank

November 6, 2015

Laura Nash acted for the family of Neal Price, 26, from Oldham, who was found dead in his cell at HMP Forest Bank in Salford.

His father, Anthony Price, told the hearing at Bolton Coroner’s Court that the family had concerns about his care and treatment while he was at Forest Bank.

The jury returned a conclusion of suicide but was not able to say on the balance of probabilities whether a further mental health assessment of Mr Price would have prevented his death. HM Assistant Coroner Mr McLoughlin said he was satisfied that the prison has made the necessary changes to deal with the issues and failings that arose from Neal’s death.

The case received coverage in the Manchester Evening News and on the Inquest website.
