Inquest into Death of Construction Worker
Julian King acted for the family of James Sim, 32, from Barry, who died after a trench collapsed on him as he worked on a construction site linked to an offshore windfarm in Heysham in 2010. Over two weeks the jury at Preston Coroner’s Court heard detailed evidence concerning the procedures in place at the site. A narrative conclusion was recorded that identified there was no evidence of a risk assessment having been carried out on the morning Mr Sim was injured, and that a lack of clarity as to supervision was among a number of contributing factors.
The case received coverage in the Lancashire Evening Post and the Yorkshire Evening Post.
