Ex-Benfica player Sancidinu Da Silva was found not guilty of raping a sleeping woman.

During a five-day trial at Liverpool Crown Court, the prosecution alleged the woman was asleep and had therefore not given consent. Joanna Rodikis, defending, claimed the woman was awake and participated in sexual intercourse having minutes earlier had intercourse with another man.

Da Silva, who does not speak English, was in Liverpool to attend a trial with Celtic Football Club.
