Emma Swindell successfully appeals against sentence in the Court of Appeal

November 25, 2025

Emma Swindell recently represented the appellant in a Court of Appeal case (R v H).

She successfully argued that the 12 months immediate custodial sentence which was imposed by the Crown Court judge was manifestly excessive.

The Court of Appeal reduced the sentence to 10 months and agreed to suspend the sentence. This resulted in her client’s immediate release from prison.

Emma was instructed by Rachel Mason of Slater Heelis Solicitors.
