Double Award success for SJB’s family team
St John’s Buildings has won two national awards for outstanding achievement in family law at the 6th annual Family Law Awards.
Held on Wednesday 23 November at the Bloomsbury Big Top in London, the awards recognise the important work of family lawyers across the UK, celebrating their successes and outstanding achievements.
Sally Harrison QC, Head of Chambers at St John’s Buildings, was named Family Law QC of the Year, while St John’s Buildings also won the Family Law Regional Chambers of the Year award in recognition of its development of the field by consistently performing at the higher court levels.
A two-time barrister of the year at the Manchester Legal Awards in 2015 and 2016, Sally overcame top London competition to win the prestigious award following her major contributions to family law.
Sally has worked on a series of high-profile cases over the years. In June 2015, Sally became the first female QC to take a divorce case to the Supreme Court, where she fundamentally changed divorce law and successfully won the right to re-open divorce proceedings for her client, Mrs Gohil, as part of the Gohil v Gohil case.
St John’s Buildings’ success at the awards reflects its commitment to family law. The Chambers has one of the largest family teams in the UK and has taken on eight new members in the last 12 months and seen fee income rise by 7 per cent per barrister over the same period.
Sally Harrison QC, Head of Chambers at St John’s Buildings, said: “It is an honour to receive these prestigious awards. To collect them in light of the outstanding competition is especially humbling, and I am delighted that the team’s ability to deliver pragmatic advice for clients on complex cases has been recognised by the wider legal community.
“Family law has become a key strength for St John’s Buildings. Our set of outstanding barristers, specialising in all aspects of family law, have made tangible differences to the field and I am delighted that the exceptional commitment and expertise they continue to demonstrate has been reflected with these awards.”
