Samuel welcomes instructions both from the CPS and defence solicitors throughout all stages of Magistrates Court proceedings.

Prosecution

Samuel prosecutes a range of criminal matters in the Magistrates Court, including:

• Offences Against the Person, including ABH
• Public Order Offences
• Animal Welfare Offences
• Driving Offences, including drink and drug driving offences, s.172s, dangerous and careless driving.

Defence

Samuel has acted in a number of defence cases, achieving favorable outcomes and positive recommendations from clients.

• R v GT [2026]: Samuel represented a client charged with intentional strangulation at trial. Following representations, the Crown withdrew the charge of intentional strangulation, offering no evidence.
• R v JDS [2026]: Samuel represented a client charged with careless driving at speeds in excess of 120mph. Following submissions, Samuel enabled the driver to avoid a disqualification.
• R v CP [2026]: Samuel represented a client charged with failure to provide and driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence. Following mitigation, leading to the shortest disqualification period under the Guidelines, the client praised Samuel’s approach and client care.
• R v JR [2026]: Samuel represented a client charged with six counts of breaching a community-based order. Following careful consideration and submissions on the precise terms of the order and breaches alleged, the client was found not guilty on all counts.

Samuel prosecutes and defends in the Crown Court across all range of matters including PTPH, sentences, committals for sentence and appeals from the Magistrates’ Court.

• R v SF [2026]: Samuel represented a client on committal for sentence for offences of threats to kill and intentional suffocation in a domestic context. Following mitigation, the client received a nine-month suspended sentence.
• R v DP [2026]: Samuel represented a client at PTPH and sentence charged with domestic burglary. Samuel successfully secured a community order for his client.
• R v JC [2026]: Samuel succeeded in a POCA legal argument surrounding the appropriate exercise of s.23 Certificates of Inadequacy.
