Samuel is undertaking a Criminal pupillage under the supervision of Dafydd Roberts.
During his first six, Samuel has shadowed his supervisor and other members on a wide variety of cases heard in the Magistrates Court, Crown Court and also the Court of Appeal.
Samuel has developed a strong foundation and knowledge of how to conduct his own cases during second six.
Samuel welcomes instructions on matters listed before the Magistrates Court and also matters of an appropriate level in the Crown Court.
Magistrates Court
Since beginning his second six, Samuel has been instructed by the CPS and defence solicitors in a range of trials and first hearings.
Prosecution
Samuel has prosecuted a range of criminal matters in the Magistrates Court, including:
- Offences Against the Person, including ABHs
- Public Order Offences
- Animal Welfare Offences
- Driving Offences, including drink and drug driving offences, s.172s, dangerous and careless driving.
Defence
Samuel has acted in a number of defence cases, achieving favorable outcomes and positive recommendations from clients.
- R v GT [2026]: Samuel represented a client charged with intentional strangulation at trial. Following representations, the Crown withdrew the charge of intentional strangulation, offering no evidence.
- R v JDS [2026]: Samuel represented a client charged with careless driving at speeds in excess of 120mph. Following submissions, Samuel enabled the driver to avoid a disqualification.
- R v CP [2026]: Samuel represented a client charged with failure to provide and driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence. Following mitigation, leading to the shortest disqualification period under the Guidelines, the client praised Samuel’s approach and client care.
Crown Court
Samuel has prosecuted and defended in the Crown Court, conducting PTPHs, committals for sentence, appeals, probation breaches and a variety of mention hearings.
