Ruby is completing a criminal pupillage under the supervision of Gemma Maxwell.
Before commencing pupillage, Ruby worked as a Licensing Officer for a large local authority. She gave specialist advice on law, policy and procedure, as well as informing final licensing decisions in both council committee hearings and criminal courts. During her studies, Ruby has volunteered for various pro bono organisations. As a member of the School Exclusion project, she challenged permanent school exclusions at first hearings and appeals. As a committee member of Oxford Legal Assistance, she ran client conferences and created research bundles for immigration and asylum cases.
In these roles, Ruby established effective communication with vulnerable and distressed clients, many of whom did not speak English as a first language. She has also developed a strong skillset in legal research as well as oral and written advocacy. Ruby has significant experience in court administration and procedure, having previously worked in a Combined Court.
Outside of work, Ruby is an enthusiastic cyclist and runner, having previously competed as an elite-level triathlete.
