Rebecca is a family law barrister, with extensive experience in all aspects of child protection, care and adoption proceedings. Prior to joining chambers, Rebecca spent 11 years working in a local authority legal department as a lawyer and in-house advocate. Rebecca has built an in-depth knowledge of local authority policies and procedures. Rebecca also spent seven years working in private practice undertaking private family work, including a wide range of s8 orders and non-molestation order applications.
In 2022, Rebecca obtained her civil Higher Rights of Audience and has made appearances in the High Court for matters involving Deprivation of Liberty Orders and matters where applications are required invoking the Inherent Jurisdiction.
Rebecca is calm and thorough in her approach to cases, and prides herself on her strong working relationships with her clients. Rebecca is friendly and approachable, and is always willing to discuss cases with solicitors at any stage in the proceedings. Rebecca is keen to continue in-house training for local authority practitioners, for both legal and client departments.
Rebecca is a board member for the Local Family Justice Board and enjoys this voluntary role to help improve family court practice.
Rebecca accepts instructions from local authorities, parents, guardians and any other represented parties in all types of Children Act proceedings.
Rebecca has dealt with many applications for Deprivation of Liberty and can be called upon for urgent hearings to provide expert advice and representation.
Rebecca often drafts documents ahead of hearings including case summaries, threshold documents and skeleton arguments.
