Nida Iqbal

Nida is a criminal pupil under the supervision of Mark Connor. Before commencing pupillage, Nida worked as a paralegal at a criminal defence firm, where she assisted on a broad range of matters before the Magistrates’ Court and Crown Court.

She has a particular interest in the criminal justice system, developed in part through her work with the Centre for Crime and Justice Studies, researching indeterminate sentences across the UK’s four jurisdictions. Nida also volunteered as a Let’s Talk volunteer for the Prison Advice and Care Trust (Pact), offering one-to-one support to individuals in custody through regular visits.

Nida’s earlier advocacy experience includes dealing with a range of civil matters in county courts across England, as well as acting as a lay representative in the Employment Tribunal, where she secured favourable outcomes for her clients. Alongside studying for the Bar Course, Nida taught Criminal Law to LLB Foundation Year students, and Employment Law and Tort Law to Year 12 and 13 students.

Nida is fluent in French, English, Urdu and Punjabi, and is currently learning Spanish.
