Clarkson represents clients of all backgrounds across the full spectrum of criminal work, having spent 26 years in defence practice, including:

  • 20 years’ experience of court advocacy as a solicitor
  • 15 years’ experience of Advocacy in Higher Courts (Criminal)
  • 5 years’ experience of managing a criminal law firm as a director
  • 19 years’ experience of managing training of solicitors
  • Specialist in defence of juvenile defendants
  • Having spent two years training as an Accountant, he has a keen eye for Fraud cases.

Clarkson has represented clients in respect of the most serious offences including murder, rape, serious assault, firearms, riot, violent disorder, terrorism, blackmail, kidnap, serious fraud, serious drugs conspiracies, robbery, serious public order, burglary, arson, theft and many more.

Clarkson is respected among his peers and has a significant client following, having established himself over many years across the East Midlands and South Yorkshire. This is due in no small part to his ability to put those in his company at ease, enabling his clients to have complete confidence in his work.

Clarkson is also a Grade 2 prosecutor.

Clarkson spends his spare time playing cricket through the summer and five-a-side football in the winter.

Clarkson has represented clients in respect of the most serious offences including murder, rape, serious assault, firearms, riot, violent disorder, terrorism, blackmail, kidnap, serious fraud, serious drugs conspiracies, robbery, serious public order, burglary, arson, theft and many more.

  • R v Mortimer and Sorrell (2025): Successfully prosecuted Grievous Bodily Harm.
  • R v Nkanyesi and others (2022): Defended in a multi-handed Murder case before Sheffield Crown Court.
  • R v Parks and Others (2021): Defended in a multi-handed Murder before Sheffield Court Court
  • R v Shiraz and Others (2017): Defended in a multi handed Murder case before Sheffield Crown Court.

Other experience

Clarkson has experience of working in accountancy, as well as training Trainee Solicitors and qualified Solicitors for their Police Station Accreditation and Duty Solicitor qualifications.
