Chloe Steel

Chloe is completing a family pupillage under the supervision of Lisa Houghton and Simon Charles. Prior to commencing pupillage, Chloe worked for the Bar’s national pro bono charity as their Lead Family Law Caseworker. In this role, she managed a large caseload spanning all areas of family law, including public and private children matters, applications under the Family Law Act, and family finance. She was also responsible for handling all complex family cases involving international relocation and abduction, wardship, non-accidental injury, fabricated or induced illness, and forced marriage. Chloe acted on behalf of all parties within proceedings, including mothers, fathers, grandparents, special guardians, and third-party intervenors.

Chloe has previously worked as a Domestic Abuse Caseworker, supporting clients who had experienced domestic abuse, sexual abuse, and stalking. Alongside providing practical and emotional support, she advised on the legal options available under the Family Law Act. Through this work, Chloe developed the ability to navigate highly sensitive and emotive conversations with empathy, professionalism and compassion, while helping clients to feel heard, supported and at ease.

Chloe is approachable, personable and quick to build strong relationships with clients. She has extensive experience working with vulnerable clients including neurodivergent clients and clients with learning difficulties, and consistently demonstrates patience, understanding and excellent interpersonal skills in her work.
