Stoke Man Sentenced to 40 months After Horror Crash

July 6, 2018

Douglas Lloyd prosecuted a driver at fault for a collision which hospitalised a family, and resulted in a 10-year-old girl having her leg amputated. The girl’s mother suffered a bleed on the brain and fractured vertebrae; and the family dog was killed in the collision.

There was evidence the driver was over the drink-drive limit and an expert report concluded that he had reached speeds of 78mph moments before the collision on a 30mph residential street. The defendant was jailed for 40 months for two counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

The case was reported by the BBC and the Stoke Sentinel.
