Rosemary is a specialist Criminal practitioner.
Before coming to the Bar, Rosemary excelled in her studies, achieving the overall grade of Outstanding on the Bar Professional Training Course, and graduating top of her class in her original degree in English Language and Literature. She brings her love of language to her role as advocate, crafting lucid and precise written submissions, and presenting her clients’ cases engagingly and empathetically in court.
Rosemary has a lively personality that shines through in her advocacy and her interaction with clients. Having volunteered as an Appropriate Adult, she is attuned to the particular needs and experiences of Defendants who suffer from mental illness or are otherwise vulnerable. She prides herself on being able to put those she represents at ease.

Rosemary regularly prosecutes and defends in the Crown Court.
NOTABLE CASES
R v B: Defended in a trial of section 20 GBH and racially aggravated fear or provocation of violence. The Defendant was acquitted of both.
R v D: Defended in a trial of three offences of battery, one offence of theft, two offences of non-fatal strangulation, and two offences of ABH, all in a domestic context. The Defendant was acquitted of all except one battery.
R v J: Defended in a trial of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. The Defendant was acquitted.
R v F: Represented a Defendant who fell to be sentenced for firearms offences, including an offence to which section 311 of the Sentencing Act 2020 applied. Successfully argued that there were exceptional circumstances that justified not imposing the required minimum term of five years.
R v A: Defended in a trial of breach of a non-molestation order. The Defendant was acquitted.
R v W: Defended in a domestic violence ABH trial. The Defendant was acquitted.
R v D: Defended in a trial of issue relating to an offence of ABH. The Complainant and another witness gave evidence in the trial. The Defendant was sentenced on her basis, and received a suspended sentence.
R v T: Noting brief in a gross negligence manslaughter trial that received national attention.
R v W: Successfully argued for the lifting of one of the prohibitions of a restraining order, drawing the Court’s attention to Jackson [2021] EWCA Crim 901. The order had been imposed on conviction for an offence of stalking involving fear of violence, and its variation was strongly opposed.
Magistrates Court
Rosemary regularly prosecutes and defends in the Magistrates’ Court.
NOTABLE CASES
R v J: Defended in a trial of non-fatal strangulation, assault by beating and criminal damage, all in a domestic context. The Defendant was acquitted of all three.
R v F: Defended in the trial of a vulnerable Defendant charged with common assault on an emergency worker. Four police officers gave evidence for the Prosecution. The Defendant was found not guilty.
