We are delighted to invite you to a criminal seminar at our chambers in Sheffield on Thursday 24 October. After the event there will be drinks in chambers and you are also warmly invited to join us for a curry.
The seminar will feature a talk from guest speaker Mark Henderson, who is a member of the digital forensics team at Keith Borer Consultants and specialises in the extraction and examination of data from mobile telephones and other digital devices. He is a Member of the British Computer Society and the Institution of Engineering and Technology.
Venue: St John’s Buildings, 7 Leopold St, Sheffield, S1 2GY
Timings: Registration: 4.45pm. Talk: Begins at 5pm and is expected to last an hour with questions.
CPD: One hour
The talk is entitled “Which Cloud Is It In?” and will cover the subject of mobile telephone evidence. In particular:
1. Where is the data? Increasingly communications are taking place online through apps such as Instagram or Facebook, but where are these messages stored and how do these apps differ from traditional text messaging?
2. How do we obtain the data? Covering the forensic process involved in downloading a mobile telephone and its content and the process involved in obtaining cloud-based app data.
3. Where does it all go wrong? Using case examples, a consideration of the pitfalls in digital evidence and possible reasons why the evidence was misinterpreted or seemingly not disclosed.
The seminar will be followed by drinks, as well as the option to join us for a curry afterwards.
