Human Resources & Facilities Assistant, Manchester

Salary range: c£25,000 depending on skills, qualifications and experience

Hours: Monday to Friday, 9am – 5:30pm (1-hour break)

St Johns Buildings employs c.75 staff members who provide diary management, business development, fee collection and other administrative and practice support to around 240 barristers across our four sites in Manchester, Sheffield, Liverpool and Chester.

In this role, based in our Manchester office, you will work closely with the Heads of HR and Corporate Services to ensure the smooth delivery of HR operations and Chambers’ facilities. You will be primarily responsible for HR administration, e.g. running recruitment campaigns, maintaining employee records, employee correspondence, pay and benefits administration. However, as part of a small HR team, you will also have opportunities to get involved with casework and transformational HR projects (e.g. employee engagement, flexibility) to aid your career development. You will also support the Head of Corporate Services and site managers in co-ordinating visits, inspections and service appointments from contractors providing health & safety consultancy, and those who service and support our site facilities.

We are looking for an experienced HR administrator/assistant, with excellent administrative, IT and organisation skills and a good working knowledge of HR processes and best practice to join our small and friendly team. You will have proven experience of: recruitment, processing starters and leavers, maintaining personnel files, payroll and benefits administration, HR database use, production of workforce information reports and employment law. An interest in and some knowledge of employer health and safety obligations are also essential and experience of co-ordinating H&S actions in the workplace would be a definite advantage. A sociable, friendly and flexible approach, demonstrable care for delivering an excellent service and a keen eye for detail are essential.
