St Johns Buildings is one of the largest barristers’ chambers in the country with a high percentage of practitioners recommended in Legal 500 and other directories across four Northern cities, six practice groups and c. 250 barristers.

This vacancy is for a permanent position undertaking billing for work carried out by Chambers’ Civil practice barristers. The post is based within our friendly civil clerking team at our Manchester site.

Previous experience of working in a billing role or as a clerk with experience of billing work would be ideal. A high level of numeracy and attention to detail are essential, as are: a confident, polite communication style, strong IT skills (including use of Excel), experience of administrative work and the ability to manage your own workload.  Knowledge of civil legal proceedings & fee regimes, and experience of using Meridian Law or similar software will be a distinct advantage, but are not essential as you will receive training.

While we would ideally like to recruit an experienced billing clerk, we will consider applications from organised and numerate individuals who would be interested in training for the role.

If you would like to join our friendly and professional team, please send your completed application and equal opportunities forms (available on our website) by post or email to Human.Resources@stjohnsbuildings.co.uk. For an informal discussion about the role, contact Chris Shaw on 0161 214 1584.
