Barristers’ Clerk, Liverpool

Salary: £19,000 – £26,000 depending on skills and experience (we can pay more for a strong candidate with significant clerking experience and knowledge of the local market)

Hours: 8:30am – 5:30pm (1 hour lunch), Monday to Friday (flexibility can be considered)

Holidays: pro-rata of 25 per year plus Bank Holidays rising with length of service

We are looking for an experienced barristers’ clerk to join our Liverpool-based Clerking Team. As one of the largest Chambers in the UK, we have around 40 clerking posts across four sites, with strong career development prospects.

Providing diary clerking support primarily to our Liverpool-based practitioners, you will be an experienced and confident barristers’ clerk with experience of: managing bookings for cases and conferences, practice team diary management, negotiating fees within defined systems and procedures, and ensuring that briefs and instructions are received and provided to barristers in good time. We use MLC and Dropbox, so experience with these systems would be a distinct advantage, although full training will be given.

We welcome applicants from barristers’ clerks with experience of any practice areas as we are common law set. Knowledge of the local market, including the courts and contacts within relevant law firms will be an advantage.

Strong interpersonal skills for establishing and maintaining strong relationships with our barristers and their instructing and prospective clients are essential, as are excellent team working, administrative, organisation and IT skills and the ability to deliver a high quality of service.
