Salary range: £24,000 – £34,000

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 5:30pm (1-hour lunch)

Holidays: 25 per year plus Bank Holidays (rising with length of service)

We have a vacancy for an experienced barristers’ clerk to join our Crime and Regulatory clerking team based in Manchester. Ideally you will have significant experience of clerking Crime and/or Regulatory work or be an experienced clerk from another discipline looking for a change to Crime.

Working with teams across our four sites, you will play a vital role in delivering a smooth and comprehensive clerking service to our members, including: diary management (ensuring the fair allocation of work), recording of briefs and instructions, checking court and tribunal listings, negotiating fees and dealing with email and telephone bookings and enquiries from clients.

You will have a proven track record of working as an effective barristers’ clerk in a chambers or a similar legal services environment, confident in diary management (using MLC or Lex), fee negotiation and problem solving. Knowledge of crime and regulatory practice and legal systems would be a distinct advantage.

You’ll also be able to demonstrate strong written and spoken communication skills, high attention to detail, organisational skills, the ability to provide excellent client care and a friendly, approachable and flexible manner in working together with colleagues and members. An interest in developing your career as a clerk is also essential, as we will want you to be involved with business and practice development.
