Inquest into the death of Lee Ridgway

Expert inquest barrister Simon Murray represented the family in the inquest into the death of 16-year-old Lee Ridgway. The court heard that the day before his death, Lee was taken by ambulance to A&E at Stepping Hill hospital in a distressed state, after stating that he wanted to die. After being told they faced a three hour wait to see a doctor, Lee’s parents took the difficult decision to take him home. He later left the house and committed suicide.

The coroner criticised Stepping Hill Hospital, saying that a lack of communication from staff with his loved ones “probably contributed to his death”.
