Douglas Lloyd Successfully Defends Nurse Accused of Abuse

August 23, 2017

Douglas Lloyd has successfully defended a nurse who faced being struck off by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), following allegations from colleagues that she had abused patients.

Following a contested hearing, an NMC panel found all 11 allegations of verbal abuse not proven. Further allegations of mistreatment were found proven only on a limited basis, which did not involve any finding of malice on her part. Light touch conditions of practice were imposed, enabling the nurse to return to work.

Douglas has substantial experience handling disciplinary proceedings against health care professionals, and is able to provide expert advice and representation in this area.
