Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 – 6pm (1 hour lunch break)

Our Apprentice Office Assistants work from our central post room, providing crucial administrative support to clerks and members of chambers.   Working closely with the clerks, you will see and learn the inner workings of chambers and what is involved in a clerking career.  We are modern chambers having recently implemented Electronic Document Management, so it’s vital that our apprentices are comfortable with using IT.

This vacancy is in our Manchester city centre site, which is well served by public transport.

As a minimum, you will need to be educated to GCSE standard with 5 GCSEs grade C or above (or equivalent) – including Maths and English Language.

Demonstrable experience of administration and customer care in a professional services environment will be a distinct advantage.

The role is based at St Johns Buildings, 24a-28 St John Street, Manchester M3 4DJ.  Hours of work are Monday – Friday 8.30 am – 6.00 pm.
This employment will be linked to a full intermediate level apprenticeship in Business and Administration.  Details of the framework are as follows:

  • Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Business & Administration
  • Level 1 Functional Skills in English, Maths and ICT
  • Level 2 Certificate in Principles of Business & Administration

Successful apprentices may have the opportunity to progress to become a barristers’ clerk and enjoy greater responsibility and career development.
